What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in, or your preferred language.
Cookies we use
Cannot be disabled
Supabase authentication session
Stores your login session. Required for you to stay signed in. This cookie is necessary for the service to function and cannot be disabled.
Remembers your settings
Theme preference (parlance-theme)
Stores your preferred colour theme (light, dark, or system). Persists across browser sessions.
Language preference (parlance-locale)
Stores your chosen interface language. Persists across browser sessions.
Cookie consent (parlance-cookie-consent)
Stores whether you have accepted or declined optional analytics cookies.
Optional — requires consent
PostHog analytics (when implemented)
If and when we enable analytics, we use PostHog to collect anonymised usage data — which features are used, how the platform performs, and where users encounter issues. These cookies are only loaded if you have given consent.
Cookies we do not use
- Advertising or retargeting cookies
- Third-party tracking pixels (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Social media tracking scripts
- Any cookies from ad networks
We do not use your behaviour on Parlance to target you with advertising elsewhere on the internet.
Cookie consent
When you first visit Parlance, a small banner appears at the bottom of the page with two options:
- Accept all — includes optional analytics cookies (when implemented)
- Essential only — only essential and preference cookies are set; analytics are not loaded
Your preference is stored in the parlance-cookie-consent cookie and remembered across sessions.
How to manage cookies
You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note: blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in to Parlance.
